rain has built the largest 5G network in South Africa, covering more than 7 million homes, providing fibre-in-the-sky with average download speeds across the network of 200Mbps. Using the latest technology and unburdened by legacy, rain has been able to break even in a record time and achieve an exceptionally high return on invested capital.
rain is a highly analytics-driven organisation operating on a large scale in a sizeable and profitable industry. rain's own network is currently on a par with the large incumbent networks in terms of data volumes. Michael, Willem, and Roger were founding shareholders of rain in 2016, with Willem serving as rain's CEO for three years.

Tyme is a fully licensed hybrid digital bank, operating in South Africa and the Philippines. Tyme offers a suite of products servicing emerging middle-class customers, using both mobile and revolutionary kiosks in retail stores to issue and service accounts, supported by tens of thousands of till points doing deposits and withdrawals. The retail store footprint provides the bank with a proxy branch network at a much lower cost than bricks-and-mortar infrastructure.
As a data and technology-driven bank, Tyme already operates on a large scale and aims to become a transformative, multi-country hybrid digital bank. The Ethos AI Fund 1 was a founding investor, along with ARC and the Tyme founders in launching Tyme in 2019. Chronos Capital further invested through its Series D raise in 2022.

Optasia (previously known as Channel VAS) is the world leader in the provision of airtime and data credit. Based in Athens, Optasia operates in 30 countries across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. Optasia has a strong value proposition for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) by providing risk-free airtime sales to MNOs, increasing average revenue per user (ARPU), and decreasing customer churn. In addition, the business uses sophisticated credit-scoring algorithms that produce in the lowest default rates in the industry.
Optasia is an AI-enabled business with a highly scalable platform scoring some 560 million subscribers daily and performing 88 million transactions monthly. Optasia was the Ethos AI Fund 1’s first investment in 2018. Chronos Capital further increased its stake in Optasia in 2022.

Vertice MedTech pursues a buy-and-build strategy and has made twelve acquisitions since being established by Ethos and the AI Fund in 2018. Vertice has become the second largest medical technology company in Southern Africa, with a continent-wide footprint that provides turnkey medical solutions across several healthcare sectors.
Healthcare is in the early stages of being fundamentally transformed by AI. Vertice is in a strong position to source technologies globally and use its established distribution network and relationships to build AI-centered business models locally. Vertice was the Ethos AI Fund 1's second investment in 2018.

GoTyme Bank is the Philippine arm of Tyme Group, launched in 2022 through a joint venture between Tyme Group and the Gokongwei Group—one of the largest and most respected conglomerates in the Philippines.

It employs sophisticated rating models, and its world-class systems enable the business to provide excellent claims services to clients.
The wider Roojai group also provides price comparison websites in Thailand and Indonesia. Chronos Capital invested in 2025.

Crossfin aims to become Africa's leading independent FinTech group within the next 5 years. Crossfin backs innovative companies that focus on solving specific everyday pain points that are not adequately addressed by existing products in the market. Crossfin's portfolio and extensive partner ecosystem create exciting opportunities to integrate a broad suite of financial products and services to support local merchants and consumers on multiple levels.
Currently, Crossfin's portfolio processes over 270 million card- and 20 million mobile-enabled payment transactions annually with an aggregated value of over R100 billion ($5.64 billion). Crossfin Holdings was the Ethos AI Fund 1's fourth investment in 2021.
In 2025, Crossfin Singapore was established through a strategic partnership between Crossfin Management and Chronos Capital Management, a sub-fund of Chronos Capital.
